There is a curious little shop on a street in London called Hoxton Street Monster Supplies. Sounds interesting right? They have a variety of jars and cans for sale with creepy names like “Salt Made From The Tears of Sorrow” and “Old Fashioned Brain Jam”. Kind of reminds me of something from the world of Harry Potter. If you’re looking for a can of The Heebie-Jeebies, you can find it at Hoxton’s. I wanted to find out the history on this cool little shop. The below two paragraphs sum up exactly what they are all about.
Hoxton Street Monster Supplies was established in 1818, though the exact details of why, and by whom, have tragically been lost to history. In 2010, after closing for a much-needed refurbishment, we re-opened our doors. We pride ourselves on being London’s, and quite possibly the world’s, only purveyor of quality goods for monsters of every kind.
Many of our customers have been coming to us for centuries. Indeed, some have been coming for considerably longer. Whether you’re a Vampire, Werewolf, Sasquatch or some Thing else entirely, we have everything you need. Most of our goods are available to buy online here, or for our full range, do drop into the shop ~ our staff are generally quite polite.
Just look at these items! And it looks like “humans” could actually use these products too. They have chocolates, jams, and other foods cleverly disguised as monster supplies.
If you look closely at the labels, you will find interesting stories like this set of directions!
Hoxton Street Monster Supply is part of the Ministry of Stories, a creative writing and mentoring for kids in London. What a great way to cultivate young creative minds and at the same time support the purchasing needs of monsters everywhere. If your ever in London, be sure to stop by and check it out for yourself.
