Frankenstein 200: a bicentennial celebration of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
In every city and town in America there are scores of unique Halloween events during the month of October. As I was throwing out some of my never-ending junk mail I saw an upcoming event that looks really cool. This year El Camino Community College in Torrance California will be celebrating the bicentennial celebration of Mary Shelley’s masterpiece Frankenstein in an event called Frankenstein 200. There will be music, panel discussions, an art exhibit, a screening of the 1931 classic film and even a ghost story writing contest! Sounds like a blast! Artist Review: Mike “Soz” Sosnowski
I love finding new monster artists! Today we present you the art of Mike Sosnowski. The artwork above is titled “Dancing In The Graveyard”. I first saw Mike’s work at the Son Of Monsterpalooza convention back in 2013. According to his website, Mike works as a storyboard artist and has done work on such notable projects as “He-man and the Masters of the Universe”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Ferngulley: The Last Rain Forest”, “The Land Before Time”, “Tom and Jerry”, and Steven Spielberg’s hit show “Toonsyvania”. Creepy Treats Extraordinaire
There are some very creative Halloween desserts out there, but the ones that Los Angeles-based artist Christine McConnell creates take culinary creativity to the highest level. After you see some of here devilishly delicious pastries, you might think being a pastry chef is her day job. On the contrary, she is actually a very talented professional stylist, photographer, model, and artist. Wow save some skills for the rest of us, will ya? If that weren’t enough she uses her never-ending artistic talent in the kitchen to create incredibly creepy treats like the ones pictured below. I especially like the Facehugger alien dessert from the movie Aliens. Hey kitty, look out! Oh, and that is Christine in the last picture. Yeah, in addition to all those talents, she’s beautiful too.
