Los Angeles Halloween Events 2013

Los Angeles Halloween Events 2013

When I see pictures of New England in the fall, I can’t help but feel a little jealous. The changing colors of the autumn leaves, large front yards and homes with deep porches…these are some of the things I secretly envy. (Oh…and the ability to actually afford a home!) But when I’m not thinking the grass is greener on the other side, I do enjoy the perks of living in Southern California. When it comes to Halloween events in soCal, there is no shortage of possibilities. First off, every theme park has special Halloween events. But you might be unwilling to part with your hard earned cash to visit these parks (I wont even comment on how ridiculously high Disneyland ticket prices are now). So instead, check this list of Halloween Events for the 2013 season to help you plan your Halloween event calendar. The Los Angeles Halloween Events list includes Haunted Attractions, Haunted Houses, Interactive Theatre Shows, Festivals, Haunted Mazes and more in just about every major area in Southern California. Plan early so you don’t miss out on all the fun.

Now That’s A Pumpkin Festival!

Keene Pumpkin Festival

With October, comes visions of fall leaves, apple cider and pumpkins…lots and lots of pumpkins. If your in the New Hampshire area in the month of October, you will find those visions a reality at the annual Keene Pumpkin Festival. This quintessential New England community hosts this awesome event each year. People in the town and surrounding area come to enjoy and take part in the yearly attempt at breaking the world record of amassing the largest number of lit jack-o’-lanterns in one place. They have held that record for many years. This year the festival will be held on Saturday October 19, 2013. Activities will include entertainment, food, treats, costume parade and of course the wonderfully magical displays of carved pumpkins for all to enjoy. Visit website

Scary Haunted Houses

scary haunted houses

What is it about Halloween that makes people want to get the shit scared out of them? Admittedly, I am one of those people. I enjoy scary haunted houses and the creativity some houses display in order to scare their guests. I remember going through a haunted house as a kid at my school’s Halloween carnival. We entered a dark room, had to crawl through a tunnel, and make it out of a maze all the while trying to avoid the monsters and traps that were inside. I had so much fun, I knew I was hooked for life. Since then I have been through many haunted houses, some better than others. Last weekend, I went to an awesome and very unique haunted experience called DELUSION: THE BLOOD RITE. It’s an interactive play set up in an old Hollywood mansion. Only 250 guests are allowed each night. Once you arrive at the mansion you are assigned a group and are given a wristband. Then while waiting for your group to be called, you can enjoy a Halloween themed drink such as the delicious Autumn Harvest, eat from a food truck or just chill in the antique couches they have set up in the mansions backyard. Once your group is called, you become part of the story. This attraction involves props, an interactive story, some incredible stunts and special effects. Not to mention a ton of great scares! I’d suggest you try to check it out if there are still tickets left. The trailer below will give you a little taste without revealing any spoilers. Continue reading

The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival is Back

Calabasas Pumpkin Festival 2012

October is the month where pumpkin festivals pop up all over the country. If you get the chance I’d suggest you go to one. This weekend Oct 20 & 21 is the annual Calabasas Pumpkin Festival, in (you guessed it)…Calabasas, California. I went last year and had a blast. Festivals of this sort are usually very safe and a lot of fun for the whole darned family. To start you can’t miss the large pumpkin patch with pumpkins and other gourds for sale. There is also a professional pumpkin carver who will transform ordinary pumpkins into extraordinary masterpieces by using spray cans and carving tools. At the Calabasas Pumpkin Festival kids will not go home empty handed. All day kids will receive one free pumpkin at the painting station and use art brushes and paints to try to create their very own painted pumpkin. The Pumpkin Pavilion also has other things for sale, such as pumpkin pies, treats and other goodies. Okay I’ll try to round up the remainder of the things I saw in one breath. They had a musical stage, free rides and carnival games (comes w/the price of admission), reptile and nature shows for the kids, food booths, and pumpkin beer stations! Whew. Oh and I almost forgot! The highlight for me was watching a table of kids gorge their way through a pumpkin pie as they competed against each other in the pumpkin pie eating contest…gross!

Below are some pics of last years festival.
