How To Build Halloween Tombstones

How To Build Halloween Tombstones

So even though this has been a weird year where it feels like every day is groundhog day, I decided to try to break the monotony and work on a project I’ve been procrastinating on for a long time…DIY Halloween tombstones! For years I’ve used store bought tombstones for my graveyard scene. You know the ones that are odd colors and say nothing more than RIP on them. Although they looked fine, I wanted to take things up a notch and really customize my tombstones to match my theme of “The Ghoulie Graveyard.”

To note there are awesome YouTube videos on how to build tombstones. I highly recommend you watching those videos to really get the best instruction. Here I’ll take you through my experience on how I made mine.

Create A DIY Halloween Graveyard Sign

The Ghoulie Graveyard Sign

Are you one of those Halloween people that tends to overcommit yourself to build as many Halloween projects as you can before Oct 31st? Well, that’s me to a T and I did it again this year. Every year I have big plans to expand and add to my Halloween yard haunt. This year I was going to complete 6 new tombstones, redo my witch jars, and make a Halloween graveyard sign. I really like how this one turned out. So I’ll share with you my newest addition and how I built it. Maybe it will inspire you to build your own! Continue reading

How To Build A Cemetery Gate For Halloween

How To Build Cemetery Gates For Halloween

The first few years of my Halloween yard haunt I realized that people really liked taking pictures inside my graveyard. I guess I should take that as a compliment but the problem was that people were walking over tombstones, tripping over wires and god forbid if someone got burned from accidentally touching the hot flood lights. It’s just too dangerous to have people in there and I didn’t want them to break any of my props. I decided to solve the problem by building a gate to surround my Halloween yard haunt. I’ll show you how you too can build a simple yet effective Halloween cemetery gate. Continue reading

Making Halloween Mason Jars

Halloween Mason Jars

We are well into October now and I can’t stop thinking of Halloween. I love this time of year because it’s when I get the most creative. What got me really excited were finding so many incredible tutorials online on how to turn ordinary mason jars into really cool Halloween decorations. I couldn’t wait to try them out so early in October when Michael’s had a big sale, I picked up a bunch of mason jars cheap. I just completed four mason jars and will show you what I did with them. The one above is my favorite. Disney’s hitchhiking ghosts illuminate my jar with a flicker candle inside. You’d be surprised at how easy these and the other mason jars are to make. Honestly! I’ll show you what I did. Continue reading

How To Make Spooky Glowing Eyes

How to make glowing eyes

So this year I wanted to start making my own Halloween props for the big night. Thing is, there are a ton of great websites out there. Where the heck do I begin? I started by making a wishlist of props that I would eventually like to build and realized there were some that required lots of time, tools and experience. Then I saw the one that looked the easiest and said…”Yep, that’s the one I’ll make first”. Turns out it was the glowing eyes effect which would be perfect for indoor bookshelves or spooky bushes outside. In this article I’ll show you how to make your very own sets of eerie glowing eyes.
